Choreo-Lab session
February 4 @ 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Free
The Center for Modern Dance Education (CMDE) awarded Creative Aging Grant from New Jersey Council on the Arts to support “Dancing Stories & Story Dances”, a project for adults aged 55 and older. The program will be held at the CMDE Studio in Hackensack, NJ beginning on January 15, and run through to a final performance on February 24 at the Fair Lawn Community Theater in Fair Lawn, NJ.
Lead Project Artist Claire Porter, assisted by Susan Thomasson, will facilitate a series of “Choreo-Labs” to support choreographers of all levels in the creation of new dance work. Participants will develop dances based on stories and ideas generated during the Choreo-Lab – whether by developing works already in process or inventing something new – and participate in a feedback process to refine movement.
The Choreo-Labs and Vocal Workshops are grant-supported and free to participants 55 and over. Participants in the project will also receive free CMDE Dancers workouts or Sunday African Dance classes from January 15-February 24.
