CMDE is the real deal. It is an authentic community of dance artists – teaching artists – performance artists. The children are introduced to concepts and movement that is not all about a “cute show” with an expensive costume. They are given a deep connection to their bodies to each other, and to what can be expressed through the medium of dance. Dance is a beautiful form of expression, not just a way to parade around our bodies in cheesy and inappropriate outfits. For me, as a dancer myself, it is so crucial that my daughters have this kind of connection with their bodies and their innate creativity, rather than what the culture is constantly screaming at them in the form of billboards, commercial television, magazine images etc…. It’s a battle every day and CMDE helps me to fight that battle.
