Afro-Modern Dance Company is CMDE’s new youth company. This high-energy performance group is open to Teen and Young adult dancers with some dance or drumming experience and a strong desire to learn African dance and perform.

Explore African Culture: Immerse yourself in the cultural context of African dance through storytelling, music, and traditional costumes. Gain a deeper understanding of the historical and social significance behind the dances, fostering cultural appreciation and awareness.
Modern Dance

In the class students will explore the connection between movement and emotion, allowing dancers to express their individuality and creativity through their own interpretations. Students will learn to tell stories and evoke emotions through their movement choices.

AFRO-MODERN COMPANY IS LOOKING FOR DANCERS!
Ages 12-21 years with some paid position positions for Bergen County residents 16 years and older. Must be highly motivated to dance and learn. Experience is a plus but self taught dancers are welcome to audition. Audition consists primarily in an observed African dance class with some Modern included. Dancers may also show a short choreographed or improvised solo.
